Here will share the guide to do the latest VOLVO data reading& programming using Lonsdor K518. It needs to open Volvo license (with free LYNK& CO).
First, let’s see the Lonsdor K518S/K518ise Volvo super update on May 14th, 2021.
It supports latest VOLVO Data reading& programming for the car models as below.
- XC40 (2020- )/ XC60 (2018- )/ XC90 (2015- )
- S60(2020- )/ S90(2017- )
- V60(2018- )/ V90(2016- )
Note: The Lonsdor Volvo license is required to open when doing this function.

Next, let’s check the step-by-step guide to read & program latest Volvo.
Here take Volvo XC40 and Volvo S90 as examples.
1.Lonsdor K518 program key for Volvo XC40 all smart keys lost
Preparation:
Lonsdor K518S/ K518ISE key programmer
Volvo XC40 car
One original key
One new key which will be used to be programmed
Note: make sure the key doesn’t work before programming.
How to do:
Dismantle CEM above driver’s pedal to read the data before hand.
Finish this work at the working bench, and reinstall the CEM back to car after saving the data.
Use the main cable to connect Lonsdor K518ISE / K518S to the OBD port of the car
Go to the function menu: Volvo XC40-> 2020- -> Add smart key lost
Select the saved CEM data file
AKL will delete all programmed keys, please prepare keys to be programmed.
Currently, the key number is 1 and become 0 after delete.
After deleting the keys, start to execute key add operation, put the key (to be programmed) in the induction area (armrest box), and click on “OK”
One key is added successfully, you can continue to program the next key using the same steps.
Two keys are added successfully, click on “Exit” if no key is to be added.
The key programming is done.
Finally, test the key remote and car start functions.
2.Lonsdor K518 add new smart key for Volvo S90
Note: all keys lost function is also supported. Just select “All keys lost” menu.
Preparation:
Lonsdor K518S/ K518ISE key programmer
Volvo S90 car
One original key
One new key which will be used to be programmed
Note: make sure the key doesn’t work before programming.
How to do:
Dismantle the car CEM under steering wheel
Use KPROG to read the data and then reinstall the CEM back to car after saving the data.
Connect Lonsdor K518 key programmer to the vehicle via the main OBD cable
Go to the function menu: Volvo S90-> 2017- -> Add smart key
Follow the prompt to select the saved CEM data file
Turn the ignition switch to ON position
Read out the current programmed keys in the car is 3
Put the new key in the induction area (cup holder), and click on “Yes” on the screen
The key is programmed successfully, and the current key number is 4.
Click on “OK” to program next key, or click on “Cancel” to exit.
Finally, test the key remote and car start functions.
